Le chitarre riempiono l’aria e la voce colpisce nei punti giusti, “It’s time to stop that self destruction / Nothing lies like a lonely heart / This is a good love interruption / A lightning bolt across the dark / Come alive, in the light of love“. Una prova di forza da ascoltare tutta d’un fiato, “There’s a slow leak and I’m losing time / I’m playing hide and seek with my pride / When doubt and the devil and love collide / It’s the great divide“. But I don’t miss a thing, I’ve just been drinking / I’m in the mood for reckless and wishful thinking / Maybe I needed reminding just how bad it’s really been / To see how great I’m doing since you left / I’m sorry darlin’“. Non manca in questo album la ballata malinconica, qui con il titolo Hold On You. Hannah Harber però ha l’abilità di non cadere in banalità sentimentali, riuscendo a mantenere un piglio rock non troppo marcato, “I wish I could call you everything under the sun / Wish I could call you the one / The one who would never leave / But now crying is the only thing I know to do / Even still I know it’s true / Crying don’t change a thing“. La Harber ci svela così l’altra faccia della sua musica, più dura e misteriosa, “Away with the key to the door of the devil’s den / One foot in the grave, one foot in the garden / We’ve been through hell and here comes the high water / Oh papa, we ain’t going under“. Bella la scelta di accompagnare la voce con solo il suono di una chitarra acustica, “My heart aches every day for you / And my soul shakes at the hell you put me through / But I’m growing stronger the longer this takes / But my heart aches“. The least, the last, shall be first / And I’m still out of line / I’m speaking fire and getting burned / Until the smokes clears / I’m just blind leading blind“.
Long Time Coming è davvero un ottimo debutto.
